NICASIO

NICASIO HOUSE, Nicasio Valley, CA

A new small house and two accessory structures on the west edge of Lake Nicasio, in Nicasio Valley, CA, 7 miles east of Pt. Reyes Station in Marin County. Modest in size (2000 sq.ft), the residence is divided into an 1800 sq. ft. main house and a 250 sq.ft. pair of guest bedrooms and bath.

The home serves as a weekend retreat for several young families and was intended to have many quiet nooks inside and out for private appreciation of the setting while also providing a large generous “Big Room” for all to be together.

Located in a much appreciated and environmentally sensitive location, the planning and approval process went through the highest level of scrutiny within the County_from planning and building through commissions and the Board of Supervisors. It was approved unanimously and enthusiastically. The County has awarded it a “platinum” (highest possible) status in their green rating program due to its sensitivity in scale, material, construction methods and siting.
